Stitches 'N Stuff
was established in June of 1984 by two sisters Sue
Childress and Frances Hughes. There is
not one craft they have not tried during their
lifetime and have continued to learn new skills into
their adult and now senior years.
Their unsurpassed
talents include knitting, crocheting,
needle-pointing, cross-stitching, quilting, painting
and even plastering. They've done it all at
least once and each sister's handiwork is only
outshone by the other.
Sue and Frances
have earned acclaim for their patterns, or designs.
These designs have been featured in many national
publications such as, McCall's, Annie's Attic,
Crafting Tradition, Country Woman, Creative
Knitting, Ribbons Works, Crochet World, and Leisure
Arts Books.
Their projects are
displayed in Stitches 'N Stuff Yarn and
Gift Shop, drawing customers from as far away as
Oklahoma City and New Orleans. "Our customers
are so varied, ranging in age from 9 to 90."
Between customers,
the sisters enjoy sitting in front of the store's
fireplace, with a knitting or crocheting needle in
hand and a ball of yarn cascading from their
matching rockers.
